5, 7 and 9 Beatty parade

These sections have been vacant for several years however I think it is important to realise that they are zoned bush residential and have always been. So all the land on that side of Beatty Parade
(opposite Waiheke Freight and BigB) is zoned residential and the only land in Beatty Parade which is zoned industrial is Big B, Waiheke Freight and Gulf Foods etc. Therefore Beatty Parade is a residential area with a small pocket of industrial land.

The present owner of nos 5 and 7 attempted to set up a commercial operation on this land and was stopped when the neighbours objected . However for some unkown reason he has been allowed to store the gazebos and containers there and no one has made him move them off.I am not sure who the present council compliance officer is but they have taken no action.Council has also taken no action on no 9 which has become a de facto rubbish dump with building debris and trucks.

So to the casual person walking along these sections look as if they are industrial when they are not.

Now under the new District Plan an owner of industrial land at 2,4,6, and 8 has applied to the comissioners to have the land opposite rezoned commercial or industrial and the.... neighbours were not represented at this hearing. It is however not too late to appeal which the BPRA will be doing'

Additionally the drain running under no 9 is too narrow and will cost at least $60,00 to bring up to specifications. Councils own files show that this drain was signed off by them however they have subsequently refused to accept responsibilty for this. It is rumoured that the owner at that time had a wife working in the council office

My vision is that there will be no expansion of the industrial pocket and that this land (at 5.7.9)will continue to be residential as it always has been. Why doesn't council fix the drain under no 9 at their cost and use all this land for pensioner housing which I think would be an excellent thing to do.

I also note that Big B are operating out of a residential size section which is why they want to move across the road to number 9 where there is more space. However they cannot do this at present because it is zoned bush residential so this is why they want to change it to commercial .

I welcome feedback and comments from other neighbours and affected parties say in Ocean Road or Beresford Street.

If we are not careful there will be a garden centre at nos 5 and 7 and a truck yard at number 9

There will be nuisance from the garden centre from noisy tree mulching machines and composting smells and engine noise and fumes from a truck yard at number 9 Beatty parade. This is a residential area so let's keep it this way so our children can walk safely along the footpath and there are no industrial noises and smells.

This is not Barrys Point Road Takapuna or somewhere in Penrose it is residential Waiheke so lets keep it that way and also make sure that the value of this residential land is not lowered
